Through volunteer activities and charitable giving, we continue
to improve the communities in which our employees live and work.
Civic Involvement
Through our employees' clubs, Samson participates and
is a leader in many worthwhile community events. The largest effort
is centered around the annual United Way Campaign. Beyond that,
employees team together to provide time and money to assist organizations
in our communities, which serve a wide variety of needs and concerns.
Employee and corporate support includes programs such as Meals
on Wheels; Big Brothers and Sisters; Juvenile Diabetes; Leukemia
Research; Red Cross Blood Drives; Community Food and Clothing
Drives; Habitat for Humanity, the Arts - and many more.
Our civic involvement is further evidence of our Samson Spirit and values built upon:
- Teamwork and support
- Planning
- Commitment
- Practice & sweat equity
- Fitness
- Change
- 'Go for the gold' attitude
- Enjoyment at work and play
- Recognizing that life and work are a series of sprints
and marathons

The Schusterman Family Foundation
When Charles and Lynn Schusterman established the Charles and Lynn Schusterman
Family Foundation in 1987, they approached the task in a
businesslike manner and pursued it with resourcefulness
and intensity.
Just as in his business endeavors, Charles sought to leverage
his charitable giving. As the foundation gives, it also
expects a return on its investment.
Charles wasn't interested in simply giving money away.
He wanted to help people build their skills, so that they
could help themselves, and in turn help others. Therefore,
giving is the first part of the equation. The second and
more important part is making sure the benefit of the grant
extends well beyond the initial grantee.

Among its largest grants to date:
- $20 million to the University of Oklahoma to acquire
and renovate the Schusterman Center at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa.
- $1 million to the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics
in Oklahoma City to build and equip the Samson Science and Discovery
Center.
- $500,000 to the Parent Child Center of Tulsa to assist
in the completion of its new headquarters.
- $600,000 to Family and Children Services, Inc. in Tulsa.
In addition, the Foundation provides matching grants to employees'
contributions to annual United Way drives.
